This role sits within Laurentian Bank.

Within the Finance group, the Financial Systems team works closely with the Corporate Accounting, Finance, Tax, Treasury, and Technology teams. The team is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of the various systems and databases under its purview so that financial and regulatory information is produced within required deadlines and with a high level of quality. The team is a key partner in several of the Bank’s major projects.

The position holder will act as the lead for the Oracle Essbase solution, overseeing the management, optimization, and evolution of the organization’s multidimensional analysis platform. They will play a significant role in modernizing this solution, particularly by contributing to the migration project from an on-premise environment to a cloud infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise, a solid understanding of financial processes, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative and constantly evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as both the functional and technical point of contact for the Oracle Essbase platform.
  • Actively participate in the migration of the platform to Oracle Essbase Cloud.
  • Design, develop, and maintain multidimensional cubes (ASO/BSO) and calculation scripts.
  • Optimize cube performance and troubleshoot technical issues related to Essbase.
  • Ensure the optimization, reliability, and stability of the Essbase platform by proactively identifying potential issues, recommending appropriate solutions, and implementing continuous improvements to enhance performance and process efficiency.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and business units to define and implement analytical solutions that meet various business needs.
  • Act as the team’s representative with other units and serve as a subject matter expert for all Essbase-related inquiries.
  • Provide user support, including training on Smart View and daily assistance.
  • Manage platform security, including user access and security filters.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical and functional documentation in accordance with internal standards.
  • Work with vendors to ensure the maintenance and evolution of the platform.
  • Participate in incident resolution, including major incidents, in collaboration with IT support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Databases, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in financial systems.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages.
  • Knowledge of the Essbase platform and its scripting language (Calc Script) is a strong asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Access, including the ability to modify and maintain existing VBA code.
  • In-depth understanding of OLAP concepts and multidimensional databases.
  • Knowledge of financial processes and accounting close cycles.
  • Experience in the banking or financial sector (asset).
  • Excellent analytical skills, autonomy, and initiative.
  • Bilingualism* (French and English), both spoken and written.
  • Proficiency with related tools: Smart View, Hyperion Planning, Oracle Cloud EPM, Power BI, SQL, PowerShell (assets).
  • Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
