Overview

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Analyst – Data Protection with expertise in Microsoft Purview to lead enterprise-wide data protection initiatives. The role involves supporting data governance, AI-driven DSPM, and compliance strategies within a complex digital ecosystem.

Location & Reporting

Location : Toronto (hybrid work model)

Reporting to : Sr. Manager, Security GRC

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the deployment and optimization of Microsoft Purview for data classification, labelling, DLP, insider risk, and eDiscovery.
• Manage end-to-end DLP operations including policy management, incident response, and workflow tuning.
• Develop and enforce data classification and retention policies aligned with regulatory standards.
• Utilize Microsoft Purview tools for eDiscovery and legal support.
• Implement DSPM controls across cloud and on-premises environments, including AI / ML data contexts.
• Monitor and respond to data protection alerts, escalating issues as needed.
• Conduct risk assessments, privacy impact assessments, and gap analyses.
• Provide metrics and dashboards on data protection metrics to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with cybersecurity, legal, and compliance teams to align data protection strategies.
• Lead training and awareness programs for data security best practices.

Qualifications

8+ years in information security, data protection, or compliance roles.

5+ years hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview.

Knowledge of data governance frameworks and privacy regulations.

1-2 years experience with DSPM solutions and AI / ML data pipelines.

Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Relevant certifications such as CISSP or Microsoft data protection certifications.
