SportChek seeks a Senior Analyst, Data Governance to lead governance across privacy, compliance, and risk domains. You will mentor analysts and partner with IT, Legal, Privacy, and business units to operationalize a robust data governance framework.

You will drive data quality, meta-data management, and governance metrics while leveraging IBM Cloud Pak for Databricks and Unity Catalog to enable secure data sharing.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or Information Systems Management.
  • 5+ years of experience with corporate data environments and governance.
  • Advanced PL/SQL skills.
  • Knowledge of BI, data warehousing, Azure or GCP.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT and APIs/event streaming.
  • Proficiency with IBM Cloud Pak for Databricks and Unity Catalog.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management.

## Senior Analyst, Data GovernanceApply: Oakville, ON: Full time: Posted Today: End Date: September 24, 2026 (14 days left to apply): JR164778**What You Will Do :** * **Data Governance Leadership:** Lead the development, implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and enforcement of data governance standards, policies, procedures, and controls to ensure adherence to privacy, compliance, risk, regulatory, and legal requirements. This includes AI Governance to ensure ethical use and compliance with regulatory standards for AI-driven processes.* **Team Leadership:** Mentor junior data governance analysts and other team members.* **Stakeholder Collaboration:** Collaborate closely with executive leadership, IT departments, business units, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Risk teams, data producers and consumers, and IT data platform teams to align on data governance goals and support the operationalization of a robust data governance framework.* Partner with internal teams to foster secure, efficient, and cooperative data sharing.* Promote data literacy by developing materials and conducting training on best practices.* Facilitate data governance forums for various data communities (stewards, owners, users).* **Policy Development:** Oversee the creation and enforcement of data management policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.* Shape the data governance accountabilities and operating model and enable data stewardship.* **Data Quality Assurance:** Choose tools and define processes for profiling, monitoring, and integration, and implement frameworks that prioritize business needs and measure quality improvements against defined rules and standards.* Lead the development and evolution of data governance metrics and KPIs; monitor & measure the overall efficacy of the data governance program.* Proactively monitor data, metadata, and reference data to ensure quality across the CTB data lifecycle.* Implement and leverage data governance tools and platforms to enable capabilities; manage and maintain metadata and other data governance artifacts such as glossaries, classifications, and lineage.* **Risk Management:** Identify potential risks related to data governance and develop mitigation strategies.* Enable data sharing and collaboration across teams and departments; ensure proper data access, usability, and monitoring of data sharing agreements.* **Project Oversight:** Lead large-scale data governance projects and initiatives from inception to completion.* Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and regulatory requirements related to data governance; recommend appropriate modifications to existing policies and practices. **What You Bring:** * Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related field.* Proven experience with corporate data environments supporting cross-functional governance.* Advanced PL/SQL skills with 5+ years of experience in structured data environments.* Strong knowledge of business intelligence, modern data warehousing techniques, cloud solutions such as Azure or GCP.* Experience with ETL/ELT processes and modern integration frameworks like API and event streaming.* Proficiency in IBM Cloud Pak for Databricks and/or Databricks Unity Catalog.* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel.* Expertise in creating/enforcing data governance policies to ensure data integrity, privacy, compliance, security.* Ability to work with Legal, Privacy, Compliance, and Risk partners.* Hands-on experience with data analysis, quality assessment, metadata management.* Excellent communication skills for presenting complex concepts to non-technical audiences.* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to problem-solve and handle ambiguity.* Effective stakeholder management; ability to build trusted relationships and influence decision-making.* Experience in process design/improvement initiatives and leveraging automation.* CDMP certification is an asset.**Broadband Salary Range:** $64,000 – 106,000 Our typical *hiring range*is between $80,000 and $85,000. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements. For critical roles, the compensation offering will be reviewed to ensure alignment with market rate and conditions and the unique value you bring to the role. #LI-NZ2
