Position Summary

As Senior Analyst, Commercial Strategy & Performance in the Commercial Centre of Excellence (Commercial CoE), your role will support Corby in its ambition to profitably beat the market through ongoing analysis of our Commercial performance and the development of recommended actions and frameworks to evolve our performance outlook.

Leveraging your ability to work with large data sets and your knowledge of the Canadian beverage alcohol environment, you will be responsible for monitoring and reporting our Commercial performance against aligned KPIs and developing meaningful actions and best practice against relevant touchpoints that will drive the Commercial organization forward. You will support to protect the profitability of the organization through management of high value, Allocated products as well as development and oversight of the SPD brand investment framework. Finally, you will support the organization in its ambition to drive long-term value growth through opportunity scoping and forecast development for new Commercial ventures and new product / brand launches.

This role is highly collaborative and coordinated with the Market-Customer division, as well as Marketing, New Business Ventures and Supply Chain. As such, the successful candidate will be a solid communicator, highly collaborative with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, curious by nature and possess a bias for analysis and action.

Overall, this role is crucial to our ability as an organization to make high-quality, informed decisions, highlight untapped opportunities and ultimately lead to improved profitability, return on investment and sustainable value creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Director Commercial Strategy and Performance with detailed analysis and insights to support the ongoing evolution of the commercial strategy.
  • Develop reporting, monitor progress and provide insights and recommendations against key imperatives established in Corby’s Commercial strategy.
  • Develop and maintain National and regional Commercial performance scorecards of Commercial KPIs.
  • In collaboration with stakeholders in Supply Chain, Brand Marketing and Market-Customer, monitor depletions (and reconcile to Shipments) of all Allocated products. Highlight risks and in conjunction with the Sr Manager of Commercial Strategy and Performance co-ordinate a plan to resolve in order to ensure the full shipment of allocation from the relevant Brand Company.
  • Provide an ongoing reconciliation of Shipments to OTCs for the various stakeholders across the Commercial team.
  • Support Beyond Budget / S&OP and Mandate processes, workstream and deliverables through the development of industry forecasts across Spirits, Wine & RTD categories (nationally and by region). Support to build and evolve best practice with respect to industry forecasting, through quantitative model building and predictive / driver analysis and through the integration of qualitative consumer insights and trends.
  • Develop provisional regional forecasts for innovation / new product launches and validate through the Commercial Planners and key stakeholders within the Market-Customer division.
  • Monitor listing status and national / regional performance vs KPIs for innovation products over the first year of launch.
  • Provide analytical support to the Market-Customer & Brand Teams , validating business cases for new opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing oversight and evolution of the SPD brand investment framework, identifying risks and potential opportunities for below the line.
  • Partner with Brand and Execution teams to develop best-practice for in-store execution standards (across distribution, shelf placement, planograms, price / promotional strategies and other activation priorities) via the Retail Standards Playbook.
  • Proven self-starter – proactive problem solver / critical thinker and intellectually curious.

Required Skills, Abilities & Education

  • Data Detective” – Advanced Analytic Mindset
  • Sound ability to interpret market performance and trends, translate “big-data” into insights into opportunities, and develop clear recommendations and actions!
  • Undergrad Degree of equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in analysis and strategic Insights
  • Strong technical knowledge in MS Suite with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in Market Insights / Analytics – Agency experience (i.e. AC Neilsen or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods – an understanding of the Spirts & Wine industry an asset
