What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting into the Director, Capital Markets and Treasury BIA (Business Initiatives and Analytics), the Analyst assists the Director and is a point of contact to the business and infrastructure partners on strategic projects, initiatives and ad hoc requests. The incumbent is also responsible for providing both analytical and initiative support and delivery to Capital Markets, Treasury and other strategic business partners, along with detailed investigative analysis in support of Capital Markets and Treasury business initiatives, projects and on post-mortems of key transactions.

How You’ll Succeed
Advisory - Act as point of contact for the business on queries and requests, accountable for communicating status and resolution to Director, Capital Markets and Treasury BIA. Assist with advisory service to the Controllership team and CFO groups to promote continuous improvement to process.
New Initiatives - Support of new systems initiatives and migrations through providing business requirements, assisting with design solutions and review of test results (SIT and UAT). Assist with review of (and where appropriate sign off on) new initiative business requirements, UAT and SIT to ensure they are adequately supported with documentation to adhere to regulatory guidelines.
Projects - Assists with Capital Markets and Treasury BIA with various projects, interacting with peers, project teams, Directors and business partners.
Continuous Improvement - Participate in and assist with continuous improvement and assist in development of new systems and processes in order to enhance the overall efficiency of the department.
Relationship Management - Develop cross-functional relationships with Directors and Senior Analysts within Capital Markets and Treasury, Controllership teams, Risk Management, and CFO Canada, Infrastructure and Front Office.
Compliance – Monitor compliance with all CIBC regulatory training and ensure these programs and policies are applied consistently across the business. The incumbent is personally responsible for compliance with all such regulatory and governance programs.
Communication/Interpersonal Skills – Exhibit great interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal stakeholders such as Front Office, Risk Management, Technology, and Finance, as well as to deal with escalations effectively. Strong problem solver, self-starter, taking hands-on approach and be able to deal with moderately complex finance issues. In addition, able to organize, prioritize, multi-task and balance numerous projects and processes. Actively demonstrate flexibility and creativity to be able to adapt to a constantly changing environment, and to develop and adapt financial procedures and processes to meet such changes.
Who You Are
You have a degree in Economics, Finance, Commerce or Accounting and/or 5-7 years business related experience. It’s an asset if you have completed the Canadian Securities Course and/or any other relevant courses from the Canadian Securities Institute suite of Programs.
You can demonstrate experience in accounting treatment of on and off-balance sheet products (accrual vs. mark-to-market) to calculate any manual accounting adjustments, and have a basic knowledge of Financial Instruments Accounting Standards with related knowledge of hedge effectiveness testing and processes. In addition, you have an understanding of Capital Markets products - pricing and settlement practices of Bonds, Swap, Options, Futures, and Foreign Exchange and the ability to develop queries using SQL and write VBA code to troubleshoot. You also have of multiple trading and reporting systems within Treasury and Capital Markets, along with in-depth knowledge of the portfolio structure in the business systems and General Ledger.
