Job summary

Fable is seeking a senior software engineer with deep backend expertise, full-stack skills, and hands-on AI-powered development experience. You will own complex software from idea through production, partnering with product, design, and SRE to deliver scalable customer-facing products and AI-enabled workflows.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will drive technical leadership, liveliness in delivery, and continuous learning in an AI-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Extensive backend and full-stack development experience.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and modern databases/messaging systems.
• Solid software architecture, design patterns, and agile practices.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Develop modern full-stack applications across backend and frontend technologies.
• Write clean, secure, well-tested code and improve performance and observability.
• Contribute to architecture, technical design, and platform evolution.
• Lead engineering excellence with automated testing, CI/CD, and tooling.
• Collaborate with product and design to deliver customer value.
• Mentor others and drive AI-enabled capabilities and improvements.
