Job description

As a Senior Advisor, Safe Production System (SPS):

  1. Be part of the journey to become the best mine operator.
  2. Develop operations managers, business improvement (BI), operational excellence (EO), safe production (SPCT) teams, and chief operating officer teams to achieve excellence in mastering SPS tools, mindsets, and behaviors.

Position Summary:

  1. We are looking for Senior SPS Advisors to join the SPS Global Office to make systematic improvements to triple bottom line (human, environmental and financial). You will be part of the D&T – SPS Global team and work in partnership with our product groups to help our employees perform better as mine operators and leaders, helping to make our operations safer, more reliable and more productive. The Global SPS will do just that by developing and supporting the implementation of safe production system and working in partnership with the product groups to undertake and support their improvement journey.
  2. Reporting to the General Manager, SPS, East Atlantic, you will be part of a team of advisors and experts in the Safe Production system, Lean tools, Mindsets and Behavior process that embodies and advocates operational excellence. This key position will provide career development opportunities for individuals who want to make an impact and make a real difference.

This position is a great opportunity for members of the operational and functional teams who enjoy going to the site and sharing knowledge with sites, product groups, and functions. You will need to:

  1. Improve performance by facilitating site assessments and helping leaders (directors, department heads, superintendents, etc.) adopt the right tools and behaviors to deliver innovative and sustainable projects.
  2. To develop site leaders, EO/ML and SPS teams in problem solving, waste elimination and Kaizen exercises, providing training and coaching as well as facilitating events at the resorts.
  3. Transform the culture by leading by example and providing coaching on Lean attitudes and SPS mindsets and behaviors.
  4. Facilitate training sessions (e.g., SPS training workshops on Good Practices).
  5. Assist the Chief Operating Officer's design and capability teams in developing best practices and training materials that will support our journey to becoming the best operator.

Your contribution:

  1. Demonstrate a commitment to safety, respect and our three core values (caring, courage and curiosity).
  2. Have experience in operations, maintenance and leadership.
  3. Have a strong experience and/or interest in leading change to change culture, mindsets and behaviors.
  4. Demonstrate skills for facilitation, training and coaching.
  5. Experience in operational excellence will be an important asset: PDCA (Plan, Deploy, Control, Anchor), complex problem solving, waste elimination, Kaizen.
  6. Act as ambassadors of change, demonstrating a great ability to inspire others to change.
  7. Be autonomous and focused.
  8. Occasionally travel.
  9. Fluency in French and English (written and oral). The responsibilities associated with this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams and partners outside Quebec.
