A leading financial services organization in Montreal seeks a Senior Advisor for Risk Data Valorization and Governance. Senior Advisor, Risk Data Valorization and Governance page is loaded
The Risk Data Governance Administrative Department is responsible for helping the Risk Management Executive Division’s business partners with data needs. As senior advisor, risk data valorization and governance, you help with the operations, valorization and governance of data collected through various channels. You extract, describe, analyze and interpret the data needed to meet regulators’ requirements (AMF, FSRA, OSFI). You are also responsible for ensuring a high level of data quality and sound governance of risk data to comply with regulations in effect. You lead practitioners on projects to design data and analytics solutions tailored to the needs of regulators. You’re at the forefront of complex, strategic regulatory data governance and valorization initiatives. You serve as a data use specialist advisor and subject matter expert for practitioners, as well as a resource person for decision-making bodies. You interact with many colleagues, partners and clients from a wide range of fields, to understand and communicate issues and influence decision-making. More specifically, you will be required to:
Analyze and identify regulators’ needs and work on complex data governance and valorization initiatives, taking into account the specifics of their operationalization and ensuring coordination during the rollout
Develop and update databases and reports and tools that have a high degree of operational and conceptual complexity to comply with regulators’ requirements
Identify opportunities to improve methods and processes, anticipate underlying impacts of changes and make improvements to data management tools
Serve as a specialist advisor to help internal and external teams understand and prioritize their needs, and identify solutions in terms of data availability and interpretation
Perform descriptive and diagnostic data analyses for a wide range of complex initiatives and make recommendations to decision-making bodies, with a focus on data governance

What you bring to the table
Bachelor's degree in a related field
A minimum of six years of relevant experience
Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
Experience as a data professional (data engineer, data scientist, data analyst, data governance)
Experience as a risk management professional (market, liquidity, credit, etc.)
Experience reporting to regulators (AMF, FSRA, OSFI, etc.)
Knowledge of French is required
Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
Proficiency in analytical tools such as SAS, SQL, Synapse, Power BI or Tableau
Extensive knowledge of data governance (master and reference data, quality control, data life cycle, personal information protection, etc.)
