Job summary

The Canadian Medical Association is seeking a strategic Internal Communications Leader (14-month mandate) to shape how employees across the organization understand and engage with major initiatives. You will translate complex changes into clear, actionable messages and support leadership with planning, messaging and change communications.

Based in Ottawa or Toronto on a hybrid basis, with remote options across Ontario and Quebec, the role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams,

Qualifications

  • Led internal communication strategies for enterprise-wide initiatives, organizational priorities, or high-impact projects.
  • Developed and executed employee-facing communication plans that help staff understand what is changing, why it matters and what they need to know or do.
  • Advised senior leaders and stakeholders on communications planning, messaging, employee engagement, and change communication.
  • Supported organizational change by helping employees understand, adopt, and engage with new initiatives and ways of working.
  • Used employee feedback, channel insights, analytics or other data to measure communication effectiveness and improve content, channels and approaches.
  • Managed multiple communication projects at once, balancing competing priorities while meeting deadlines and business needs.
  • Collaborated with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, clear, and aligned messaging across the organization.
  • Coached, mentored, or provided guidance to colleagues or content contributors to strengthen content quality, channel use and stakeholder engagement.

Location: Ottawa ON (Hybrid) or Toronto ON (Hybrid) or Ontario CA (Remote) or Quebec CA (Remote)

Salary: $97,000 to $121,000

The CMA and the CMA Group of Companies (CMA Foundation and CMA Impact) has hybrid as well as remote workers across Quebec and Ontario. The Enterprise works in partnership with stakeholders and counterparts nationally across Canada. Due to the nature of the work performed for this position, the incumbent is required to communicate with colleagues in Quebec, Ontario and/or other provinces in English. Proficiency in French is an asset, but not a requirement of this role.
