Role overview

To enhance our support for Indigenous entrepreneurs, BDC is expanding its presence in Indigenous communities. The Senior Advisor, Indigenous Entrepreneurship, will build relationships, align efforts with community needs, and promote economic empowerment by serving as a key liaison and expert.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations to understand needs and promote BDC's credibility.
  • Act as a referral point for Indigenous businesses, guiding entrepreneurs to appropriate BDC resources.
  • Collaborate with account managers to identify support opportunities and ensure geographic coverage.
  • Foster trust-based relationships and deliver exceptional customer care with confidentiality.
  • Enhance BDC’s understanding of Indigenous communities through research, internal education, and tailored solutions.
  • Engage in business development activities to identify new opportunities.
  • Stay informed on Indigenous needs and economic trends through participation in conferences and ongoing research.

Qualifications

  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of barriers and opportunities for Indigenous entrepreneurs.
  • Commitment to economic empowerment within Indigenous communities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Over 5 years in a financial institution or relevant experience.
  • Financial analysis skills and effective communication.
  • Leadership qualities to inspire diversity champions.
  • Passion for SME issues and knowledge of economic development policies.
  • Proficiency in English and French.
  • Valid driver’s license.
