Qualifications

  • Über 5 Jahre Erfahrung in einer Finanzinstitution oder einem relevanten Bereich.

POSITION OVERVIEW

To better serve Indigenous entrepreneurs, BDC is enhancing its market presence in Indigenous communities. Our new engagement model aims to remove barriers faced by Indigenous entrepreneurs in accessing capital, mentorship, networking, and relevant business education and knowledge.

We are currently hiring a Senior Advisor, Indigenous Entrepreneurship. In this role, you will be deployed in specific regions to strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities and ensure our efforts align with their needs and expectations.

As a Senior Advisor, you will be BDC’s primary resource for building relationships and positioning BDC as a partner of choice within Indigenous communities. You will work closely with entrepreneurs and partners, focusing on economic empowerment.

You will report to the Inclusive Entrepreneurship team and guide entrepreneurs and partners to appropriate channels and resources, regardless of internal business lines.

You will be a key resource for developing initiatives relevant to Indigenous communities, sharing your knowledge to ensure BDC remains relevant and valuable to these communities.

Main responsibilities

Supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs to achieve their ambitions

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external organizations and individuals involved in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to understand community needs.
  • Promote BDC’s credibility, image, and recognition within Indigenous communities.
  • Act as a referral point for Indigenous businesses, leveraging in-market activities and long-term relationships, guiding entrepreneurs and partners to the right BDC offerings or contacts.
  • Collaborate with account managers to identify opportunities and provide expert advice on business needs.
  • Ensure geographic coverage, identifying opportunities to support Indigenous businesses.
  • Foster trust-based relationships with Indigenous entrepreneurs, understanding and addressing their unique needs to support their growth.

Enrich BDC’s understanding of Indigenous communities

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior executives, clients, and land shareholders.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in research and understanding of Indigenous communities.
  • Internally educate and engage BDC employees to understand the importance of this strategy.
  • Contribute to developing tailored solutions for Indigenous entrepreneurs.
  • Disseminate information and coordinate actions to promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Support project teams in establishing training opportunities.

Conduct business development to support Indigenous entrepreneurs

  • Collaborate with partners to identify new opportunities.
  • Use your network to pursue business opportunities.

Stay informed on Indigenous needs and trends

  • Participate in regional Indigenous conferences.
  • Keep abreast of economic trends impacting Indigenous entrepreneurs.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Main qualifications:

  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of barriers and opportunities for Indigenous entrepreneurs.
  • Commitment to promoting economic empowerment in Indigenous communities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or relevant experience.
  • Over 5 years of experience in a financial institution or relevant field.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and communicate effectively.
  • Strong leadership abilities to inspire diversity champions.
  • Passion for issues affecting Small and Medium Entrepreneurs and knowledge of economic development policies.
  • Self-identified Indigenous individual.
  • Excellent English communication skills; French is an asset.
