  • Experience as an Investment Advisor is an asset.

This role sits within Laurentian Bank

The Senior Advisor, Financial Planning, acts as a leader in business practice, providing ongoing support to the Personal Banking Services network advisory force on coaching and retaining clients so as to increase LBC’s assets under management.

Responsibilities

  • Answer questions and support the advisory force in all matters relating to advice (strategy, solutions, tools, financial planning, etc.)
  • Review and approve, if required, the financial plans developed by the advisory force
  • Prepare, on request by the advisory force, materials to present to clients, such as portfolio analyses, retirement plans, financial plans and disbursement plans
  • Be called on to participate in key advisor–client meetings if necessary to proactively support business development
  • Work jointly with the leaders of our branch network to structure, organize and coordinate the necessary support to meet Bank’s need for information and documentation on both sides of the balance sheet
  • Contribute to developing and updating financial advisory tools such as financial calculators to meet the needs of the Personal Banking Services network
  • Ensure that the compliance rules put in place by regulatory authorities such as the AMF, CIRO (Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization) and the Institut québécois de planification financière are adhered to in all team activity and in the materials developed for LBC clients
  • Always stay up to date on the latest financial knowledge, the products and services offered by LBC and its competitors, LBC’s compliance rules and the rules of regulatory bodies such as the AMF, CIRO and the IQPF
  • Work closely with the Senior Advisor, Business Strategy, to maintain a comprehensive picture of LBC’s advisory approach at all times

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, finance or financial services option, or equivalent in a field related to the financial services industry
  • 8 years’ consulting experience in financial services, including 5 years’ experience in financial planning or any other combination of experience and training deemed to be relevant
  • Strong proficiency with financial planning software such as NaviPlan (mandatory)
  • Experience as an Investment Advisor (asset)
  • Proficiency in English and French
  • Leadership

  • Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
