Compensation Details :

  • Events Planning 18 : Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.
  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview:

Community Investment (CI) is a part of EDC’s Corporate Communications Team. The goal of EDC’s CI program is to make a positive impact in the communities where EDCers live and work by engaging employees and providing them with opportunities to give back in a meaningful way and live our corporate values. It is also important to EDC’s overall corporate persona and sets us apart as an employer of choice.

The role of the Community Investment Lead is to design and implement a community investment strategy to advance EDC’s commitment to community involvement and connect with our corporate values. This position is part of the Corporate Communications Team and is responsible for enhancing EDC’s reputation in the community through strategic philanthropy, partnership, scholarship, donation, and sponsorship opportunities with organizations of choice, and to help build Canada’s trade capacity by assisting educational institutions in preparing students for careers in international trade. There is an opportunity to enhance the strategic partnerships of the Inclusive Trade team through the CI team's capacity as it relates to these key communities and EDC’s business strategy. It is also about connecting employees to their communities and to EDC’s corporate values, contributing our overall corporate culture.

Discipline Summary:

  • Develop and implement community investment strategies and programs aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community organizations, other Crown Corporations and government departments.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of community investment initiatives.
  • Plan and coordinate the delivery of large events to engage employees in community investment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Communications, ESG, Government Relations) to integrate community investment into broader corporate initiatives.
  • Represent the organization at community events, forums, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and reporting standards

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and execute the strategy for EDC’s Community Investment program aligned with EDC’s 2030 Strategy and core values.
  • Partner with Employee Communications, Social Media, Human Resources, and Employee Resource Groups to ensure coordinated support for EDC corporate CI goals.
  • Ensure EDC is aligned to best practices in the community investment and development space and is recognized for progressive programming by our partners, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external partners to deliver on CI objectives and to elevate the program on a continual basis.
  • Effectively engage with the CEO and executives to secure sponsorship and support for program initiatives and events.
  • Manage the program budget in line with the team’s established strategy and objectives and corporate deliverables.
  • Draft internal and external communications for employees and partners to highlight CI initiatives.Actively engage on Viva and social media channels bringing visibility to the initiatives and programs.
  • Organize, recruit and train volunteers to support the successful execution of the CI activities and events.
  • Develop and update relevant guidelines and policies for community involvement and charitable giving.

What we are looking for:

  • Completed an undergraduate degree in Public Administration, Social Sciences, Business, or in a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in community investment, stakeholder engagement, or corporate social responsibility.
  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
