Job description

Who we are
You know those big cities that still feel like small towns? Where everyone’s friendly and helps each other out? That’s like Doane Grant Thornton. Except here we’re all professionals and there isn’t a mayor or a general store. What we’re trying to say is that we’re a large and growing professional services firm that still feels like a community. We employ over 3000 people across Canada, and we truly care about our colleagues, our clients and the communities where we work and live. That’s what’s most important to us. We’re building a thriving organization that’s purpose driven and still want to remember what your favourite milkshake flavour is.

Our special culture shines through when we have the opportunity to connect in person. That’s why we’re working in a model where teams are required to be together in the office 4 days per week.

As a Senior Administrative Assistant, National Tax your responsibilities will include:

  1. Managing the National Tax Service Line Leader’s calendar, along with booking travel and expenses administration.
  2. Coordinating and participating in regular National Tax Team meetings, and Tax Leadership meetings.
  3. Scheduling and supporting various other meetings, conferences and training events (room bookings, agendas, minutes, etc.).
  4. Assisting with the gathering, compiling, posting and maintaining various information and intranet content (manuals, letter templates, presentations etc.).
  5. Overseeing annual and special projects, including liaising with internal teams and external contacts as needed.
  6. Overseeing the administration of the soon to be created “Tax Hub” to ensure that the workflow is moving and triaging as needed.
  7. Contributing to the National Tax team’s internal e-newsletters (proofing, adding non-technical content, etc.).
  8. Conducting and compiling various annual and ad-hoc internal surveys and documentation requests.
  9. Facilitating the onboarding of new tax colleagues through welcome emails, coordinating research tool access, etc.
  10. Supporting colleagues by looking for ways to improve processes and to ensure positive work relationships.
  11. Contributing to Brand development and the overall professional image of the National Tax Team.
  12. Assisting the National Tax Team with other administrative support needed.

At Doane Grant Thornton, you’ll work with inspiring leaders who support your development, both personally and professionally. This is a place where your insatiable curiosity enables you to think, see and hear from a variety of perspectives, a place where every day is different and having the courage to grow is part of who you are. And when all this comes together, well that’s when the magic happens!
