Job summary

CLIC, a leading Canadian financial services cooperative, seeks an Actuarial Analyst to support pricing and product work for wealth products and annuities. You will analyze assumptions, run quotes, and develop projections while applying actuarial concepts and maintaining high ethical standards.

You will mentor junior staff, collaborate across teams, and leverage Microsoft Office and Excel to communicate complex results and insights. This role is hybrid with collaborative in-office work expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science (CIA-accredited) or a relevant discipline.
  • Insurance industry experience including actuarial modeling.
  • Actively pursuing CIA or SOA designation within one year of Associateship.
  • Strong computing skills including Microsoft Office and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Completing pricing and product support work for wealth products (annuities, funds, retirement).
  • Developing understanding of actuarial concepts and applying them to conclusions.
  • Communicating actuarial concepts within the department, in writing and verbally.
  • Upholding ethics, policies and procedures as per company standards.
  • Utilizing actuarial knowledge from research and development initiatives.
  • Training and mentoring junior staff.

How You Will Create Impact
  • Completing pricing and product support work for various wealth products including individual annuities, group annuities, segregated funds, and group retirement. This may entail analyzing assumptions, creating projections, running quotes, etc.
  • Developing a broad understanding of the practical applications of actuarial concepts and use them to develop conclusions.
  • Communicating basic actuarial concepts within the department both verbally and in writing, and prepare official communication within the department.
  • Upholding professional ethics, values, policies and procedures that support the company’s and profession’s standards.
  • Utilizing and developing Actuarial Knowledge and experience gained through research and development initiatives as well as education learning.
  • Training and mentoring junior staff.
To Join Our Team
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from a Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA)-accredited university or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • You have insurance industry experience including actuarial modeling.
  • You are actively pursuing a designation with the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) or The Society of Actuaries (SOA) and are within one year of attaining your Associateship with either organizations
  • You have strong computing skills including experience with Microsoft Office and Excel.

Expected salary range $69,660 - $116,100

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
