Swiss Re Life & Health is looking for a bright undergraduate who is actively pursuing a career in actuarial science. Our Actuarial Development Program is designed to provide the opportunity to work assignments and projects that are challenging, educational and promote personal and professional development.

About the Role

As part of our Actuarial Development Program, you'll gain hands-on experience across various actuarial functions while receiving support for your exam progression. You'll collaborate with experienced professionals who are committed to your development, working on meaningful projects that directly impact our business decisions and client solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation and refinement of pricing models that drive business decisions
  • Conduct testing of mortality table updates to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Support the preparation and analysis of mortality and lapse experience data and contribute to periodic studies
  • Contribute to quarterly valuations and participate in earnings analysis processes
  • Support the maintenance of the reserve valuation system to ensure operational excellence
  • Comply with the provisions of the Actuarial Development Program, including exam progression and participation in other educational opportunities
  • Develop technical skills with software and systems such as Visual Basic, SAS, SQL Server, MSBI, Tableau, R, ALFA, AXIS, LMS and MoSes
  • Assist in responding to requests from clients, reinsurance partners, regulators, auditors, and rating agencies

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • 3-4 years of working experience, with progress toward or attainment of ASA designation preferred
  • Strong technical skills using MS Excel and proficiency in at least one programming language
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience with actuarial modeling software (AXIS, MoSes, ALFA)
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Experience with statistical analysis using R or Python
  • Understanding of insurance or reinsurance business operations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
