Job summary

Allstate Insurance Company of Canada is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst to support price and risk management initiatives in a hybrid role from the Canadian Head Office. You will develop, implement and maintain ratings, pricing rules and models, while coaching junior staff and communicating results to stakeholders.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or related field, ACAS preferred, and at least 2 years of experience with predictive analytics and insurance regulation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial, statistics, or similar field.
  • ACAS preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of product, price, risk management and insurance regulation, including professional standards of actuarial/statistical techniques.
  • Solid understanding of principles of predictive analytics and experience leading the evaluation and application of predictive models to generate measurable business value.
  • Strong project management skills to independently handle multiple projects of medium complexity

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in cross-functional projects.
  • Function as a liaison between business units and systems or other areas of responsibility based on the projects they are assigned to
  • Identify, recommend, develop and integrate SAS and Visual Basic programs for actuarial projects and procedures, and undertake analysis.
  • Support and/or lead the development/design of new rating plans, products, processes and methodologies.
  • Coach, develop, review and delegate work to junior actuarial staff.
  • Communicate complex analyses and results to colleagues and business partners and provide recommendations.
  • Provide required services to support Pricing Managers and Province Managers with implementation of rate changes, rate filings, new products, and rating rule changes.
  • Ensure adherence to CAS and the CIA Standards of Practice

The Senior Actuarial Analyst applies advanced knowledge of a job area typically obtained through exams and work experience. They are able to work independently with general supervision and have the ability to review the work of junior analysts in actuarial analysis and research. They are able to interpret and communicate the results of the actuarial analysis to stakeholders across the organization. The Senior Actuarial Analyst works as part of the Actuarial team to successfully meet ACG’s performance requirements.
