Job summary

CGIC in Canada is seeking an Actuarial Analyst II to support pricing initiatives within the Commercial & Farm Pricing team. You will collaborate with actuarial colleagues and business partners to ensure profitability for P&C lines, focusing on commercial auto pricing projects.

This role offers a hybrid work model (2 days in office), English language requirements with French as an asset, and opportunities for training, development and a comprehensive rewards package.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or related discipline.
  • 2 years of experience in the Property and Casualty field.
  • Working knowledge of modeling software and programming languages such as Earnix or other live rating engines.
  • Having or working towards ACAS or FCAS designations is an asset.
  • This role primarily works with non-Francophone groups, and requires English proficiency.

As an Actuarial Analyst II you are a key player to support pricing initiatives. You will work collaboratively with actuarial teams and business partners to support actuarial projects to ensure the profitability of property and casualty (P&C) lines of business. You will work on commercial auto related projects.

How you will create impact:
  • Joining strategic initiatives in a highly collaborative team of commercial auto pricing actuaries impacting multiple entities. Develop expertise and build rating engine using Earnix.
  • Participating in a variety of pricing projects, including analyzing portfolio profitability, developing and improving rating algorithms, impact analysis, and supporting rate implementation.
  • Working with advanced modeling softwares, various data sources and programming languages to contribute to strategic objectives.
  • Communicating actuarial concepts to business partners and maintaining documentation of key actuarial functions.
  • Improving existing actuarial practices and procedures in alignment with emerging trends and best practices in the insurance industry and actuarial landscape.
  • Leading small to medium sized projects within the team, including developing, following, and reporting on timelines.

  • Having knowledge of commercial auto is an asset.
  • You have completed a post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or related discipline.
  • You have 2 years of experience in the Property and Casualty field.
  • You have working knowledge of modeling softwares and programming languages such as Earnix or other live rating engines.
  • You have experience supporting Actuarial projects and/or completing reserve analysis and reporting.
  • Having or working towards the ACAS or FCAS designations is an asset.
  • This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

Salary information

Expected salary $69,660.00to$116,100.00CAD

Salary placement

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
