Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science (required).

Responsibilities

  • Act as SME and trusted advisor aligning financial results, assumptions, and pricing.
  • Analyze results, provide recommendations, and present findings to Finance, Pricing, and Senior Management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, processes, and tools within the business line.
  • Advise Pricing on major quotations and renewals.
  • Ensure governance of actuarial valuation and pricing models.
  • Contribute to pricing tools and annual assumption updates.
  • Collaborate with Data Analytics and IT on predictive models.
  • Represent Finance in strategic initiatives for the business line.
  • Support various Finance projects (planning, budgeting, risk).
  • Analyze industry surveys to identify trends and implications for iA.

What You’ll Accomplish with Us

As a Senior Actuarial Advisor, you will be at the heart of our mission. Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to ensure alignment between financial results, actuarial assumptions, and pricing strategies;
  • Analyze and interpret results with managers, provide recommendations, and communicate findings to various stakeholders (Finance, Pricing, and Senior Management) to support decision-making;
  • Identify and recommend improvement opportunities aimed at optimizing profitability, processes, and tools within the business line;
  • Advise and support the Pricing team in the analysis of major quotations and renewals;
  • Ensure sound governance of actuarial valuation and pricing models;
  • Participate in the enhancement of pricing tools and in activities related to the annual update of assumptions used within these tools;
  • Contribute to the evolution, optimization, and governance of predictive models in partnership with Data Analytics and IT teams;
  • Represent the Finance team in various strategic initiatives related to the business line;
  • Contribute to a variety of Finance team projects and processes based on business priorities (e.g., process improvements, financial results analysis, budgeting, risk management, etc.);
  • Analyze industry survey results to identify emerging trends and assess their implications for iA’s business strategies.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science and has a minimum of 10 years of relevant actuarial experience;
  • Is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA);
  • Has an interest in programming and automation;
  • Is recognized for their rigor and strong analytical capabilities;
  • Stands out through a continuous improvement mindset and structured thinking;
  • Demonstrates a high level of autonomy, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities;
  • Has an advanced level of proficiency in both French and English, as the role requires daily communication through calls and emails with unilingual English-speaking clients and partners across Canada.
