Job summary

MNP in Mississauga, Canada, seeks a Senior Accounting Technician to support compilation, review, bookkeeping and tax engagements for diverse clients in a rapidly evolving reporting landscape.

You will work with government remittances, AP/AR, month- and quarter-end closes, and GL reconciliation, while collaborating with the client engagement team and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Accounting certificate or bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting/finance major preferred).
• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience preparing T4s and T5s; knowledge of personal and corporate tax.
• Working knowledge of accounting processes and principles.
• Experience using accounting and tax software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with compilation, review, bookkeeping and tax engagements.
• Prepare and maintain government remittances/filings, AR, expenses, AP and payroll transactions.
• Set-up client files, assist with budgets and administrative planning.
• Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process.
• Maintain and reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, AR/AP, accrued liabilities, intercompany and POS uploads.
• Identify issues and discrepancies; discuss resolutions with managers or partners.
• Communicate with government regarding information requests, assessments and installments.
• Work collaboratively with the client engagement team.
• Liaise with clients on administrative matters and provide functional advice to other team members.
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist with compilation, review, bookkeeping and tax engagements
• Prepare and maintain government remittances/filings, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable and payroll transactions
• Set-up client files, assist with the completion of budgets and complete administrative planning
• Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process
• Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany and point of sale (POS)/system uploads
• Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutions
• Communicate with the government regarding information requests, assessments and installments
• Work collaboratively with the client engagement team
• Liaise with clients on administrative matters and provide functional advice to other team members
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
