Job summary

MNP on Vancouver Island is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Technician to join our Assurance & Accounting team. You will assist with compilation, bookkeeping and preparation of tax engagements, enabling clients to make informed decisions with confidence.

Qualifications

• Accounting certificate or bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration.
• Minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience preparing T4s and T5s; knowledge of personal and corporate tax preferred.
• Familiarity with basic accounting principles and processes; experience with accounting and tax software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with compilation, bookkeeping and preparation of tax engagements, including corporate and personal tax filings.
• Prepare and maintain bookkeeping records, reconciliations, and support timely financial reporting and compliance.
• Identify issues, investigate discrepancies and discuss resolutions with managers or engagement partners.
• Communicate with government regarding information requests, assessments and installments.
• Collaborate with the client engagement team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with compilation, bookkeeping and preparation of tax engagements, including corporate and personal tax filings, and other tax slips (ie. T4s/T5s/T3s, etc)
• Prepare and maintain bookkeeping records and processes, including account reconciliations, financial record accuracy, and support for timely financial reporting and compliance.
• Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutions
• Communicate with the government regarding information requests, assessments and installments
• Work collaboratively with the client engagement team

Skills And Experience

• Accounting certificate or bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is considered an asset)
• A minimum of two (2) years of relevant accounting experience is required
• Experience preparing T4s and T5s and knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferred
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes is considered an assetExperience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset

We support flexibility and are open to considering a reduced schedule for the right candidate.

The annual salary range for this opportunity is $55,000 to $70,000. Compensation is determined based on individual skills, relevant experience and certifications.
