Infrastructure Services is inviting applications from individuals who are interested in working as a Senior Accounting Technician. We are looking for a results-oriented individual who is committed to providing exemplary public service.
WAGE: $43.27 per hour
Hours: 37.5 Hours per week
DUTIES:
This position is responsible to support the Electric Utility in a variety of complex municipal accounting and year end functions and will provide financial analysis through reporting, monitoring, and reconciling. Duties may include preparing financial reports; processing accounts payable and accounts receivable; projection of year end variance; project reporting and monitoring; creating purchase orders and work orders;assisting in the development of business unit operating budget documents; and the development and review of processes and procedures for the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of up to two years of post-secondary education with a diploma in accounting. Preference will be given to candidates with four to six years of related experience. The ideal candidate will also be willing to work towards obtaining their Chartered Professional Accountant designation. Candidates must have strong analytical skills and an in-depth knowledge of accounting principles. Effective communication with representatives from all levels within the City as well as officials from outside parties is required. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with a variety of computer software applications including in-depth hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Candidates will require superior organization skills to allow them to complete daily duties with tight deadlines.
