Job summary

BJRC Recruiting seeks a Senior Accounting Analyst to join its corporate accounting team in Montreal. This hands-on role offers broad ownership across the accounting cycle, financial reporting and analysis within a collaborative environment.

You will lead the month-end close, maintain balance sheet accuracy and support forecasting, audits and consolidation activities. A strong candidate has solid accounting experience and is ready to step into a broader senior position.

Qualifications

• Hands-on month-end close and general accounting.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations and financial analysis.
• CPA designation is an asset, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Own key aspects of the month-end close, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
• Maintain and analyze balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Manage accounting schedules including fixed assets, prepaids, payroll and inventory.
• Prepare financial reporting and provide variance analysis and commentary on results.
• Partner with FP&A and other finance stakeholders to explain financial performance.
• Support cash flow forecasting, audit requirements, tax remittances and consolidation/reporting.
• Identify accounting issues and contribute to process improvements and stronger financial controls.
• Take broad ownership of assigned business/account areas from close through reporting and analysis.

The Role

Ideal Candidate

• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations and financial analysis
• Strong critical-thinking skills with the ability to investigate results and identify when something does not make sense
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• CPA designation is an asset, but not required
• Retail, inventory, manufacturing and/or consolidation experience considered an asset
• Open to either an existing Senior Analyst or a strong intermediate-level candidate ready to step into a broader senior role
