Doane Grant Thornton in Toronto, ON is seeking a Senior Accountant, Privately Held Business Group, to lead client engagements across industries, contribute to the office business plan, and mentor an accounting team.

CPA designation is a strong asset; 3+ years in public accounting with a focus on tax and accounting, plus excellent communication and leadership skills are essential for this role. The firm offers profit sharing, flexible days, RRSPs, and a Canada-wide summer work option.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute client engagements across industries and reporting frameworks.
• Contribute to new business development by understanding Doane Grant Thornton services and credibility in the field.
• Act as a leader in the business unit, service line, and firm by helping develop and execute the office business plan.
• Maximize engagement profitability by effectively utilizing engagement resources.
• Review corporate and personal income tax returns, NTRs and compilations.
• Plan and lead teams to exceed client expectations.
• Mentor and supervise accounting staff and provide ongoing feedback and training.

As a Senior Accountant, Privately Held Business Group your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and executing client engagements under varying reporting frameworks across different industries and sectors
• Contributing to new business development by understanding all Doane Grant Thornton services and by using your credibility in the field
• Acting as a leader in the business unit, service line, and firm by actively contributing to the development and execution of the office business plan
• Maximizing engagement profitability by effectively utilizing engagement resources
• Analysis and review of corporate and personal income tax returns, NTRs and compilations
• Planning and leading teams to ensure that client expectations are exceeded
• Supervision and mentoring of an accounting team, including the review of files
• Leading through the coaching and performance management process of the practice by providing ongoing feedback, conducting timely performance reviews, and delivering training to develop team members

Our salary ranges are reviewed annually, and where you land within the range depends on a mix of factors—your background, your skills, and how your contributions align with internal equity. To help start the conversation, the current salary range for this role is $62,300-85,700 in Toronto, ON. If the role is available in other locations, the range may differ to reflect local market factors.
