Doane Grant Thornton in New Liskeard, ON is seeking a Senior Accountant in the Privately Held Business Group to deliver high-quality financial statements and tax work for owner-managed businesses across Canada. You will mentor junior staff and contribute to client service excellence while growing a versatile accounting career.

The role emphasizes planning, review engagements, and tax preparation with a collaborative team culture in a flexible, client-focused firm environment.

Qualifications

• University degree or diploma in Accounting.
• Minimum 3 years of public practice experience with small to medium owner-managed businesses.
• Relevant professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven problem solver with solid analytical skills.
• Strong technical experience in accounting and tax.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office and ability to grasp new technology tools.
• Experience with Caseware, Taxprep and QuickBooks is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Working closely with clients and providing exceptional client service.
• Providing solutions to clients on current business and financial issues.
• Planning, preparation and execution of financial statements for review engagements and compilations with appropriate note disclosures.
• Planning and preparation of working paper files for review engagements and compilations.
• Preparation and filing of personal and corporate tax returns.
• Providing mentorship and training to junior team members.

As a Senior Accountant, Privately Held Business Group your responsibilities will include:

To help start the conversation, the current salary range for this role is $50,000–$72,000 in New Liskeard, ON. If the role is available in other locations, the range may differ to reflect local market factors.
