As a Senior Accountant, Privately Held Business Group your responsibilities will include:

1. Collaborating with colleagues to provide exceptional service to clients under varying reporting frameworks across different industries and sectors
2. Planning, preparing and executing financial statement reviews and compilations, including budget and resource requirements
3. Completing monthly and annual bookkeeping for clients (preparation and advisory) and assisting with payroll and HST calculations
4. Preparing various types of tax returns and responding to CRA requests for information
5. Supervising, coaching and providing timely feedback to junior engagement team members
6. Contributing to the building of our reputation as the preferred business advisors in key sectors of our growing practice
7. Other duties as required

1. Completed post-secondary degree/diploma or equivalent professional experience
2. Minimum 2 years of public practice accounting and/or bookkeeping experience for small to medium sized owner-managed businesses
3. Strong technical expertise in accounting
4. Experienced in tax return preparation
5. Strong focus on exceptional client service and relationships
6. Strong planning and time management skills
7. Proven problem solver with solid analytical skills and attention to detail
8. Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions
9. Ability to successfully work independently and as part of a team
10. Experience mentoring and coaching junior team members considered an asset
11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
12. Proficient with MS Office suite and Accounting software applications (CaseWare, TaxPrep, Sage, QuickBooks), with ability to quickly grasp new technology tools

At Doane Grant Thornton, we’re committed to ensuring our compensation practices are fair, equitable and competitive. To get the conversation started, we’re happy to share that our current base salary for this role ranges from $52,500-$72,500 in Kamloops, BC. If this role is available in another location(s), the associated salary range in that location(s) may vary based on relevant factors, including geography.

Our special culture shines through when we have the opportunity to connect in person. That’s why we’re working in a model where teams are required to be together in the office 4 days per week.
