Job summary

MNP is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Standards - Technical Services team. You will advise on financial reporting and interpret new accounting standards across the Assurance and Accounting practice.

This bilingual role requires CPA progression, 1–3 years accounting and assurance experience, and strong writing and project management skills to support training and internal tools.

Qualifications

• CPA designation in progress or completed.
• Fluent in French and English due to cross‑country collaboration.
• 1–3 years of accounting and assurance experience at a public firm.
• Strong technical writing and project management abilities.
• Analytical research and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver industry and technical expertise on assurance and accounting matters with managers and Partners.
• Promote quality control in engagements and contribute to quality initiatives.
• Research and respond to queries under ASPE, IFRS, and CAS.
• Maintain knowledge of changes in the profession through research and training.
• Support development of accounting and assurance tools and protocols.
• Assist with accounting training and develop learning programs for teams.

Make an impact with our Standards - Technical Services team as a Senior Accountant. This diverse team of professionals provides best-in-class industry and technical expertise to internally drive the success of our Assurance and Accounting practice. As a trusted advisor, you’ll advise and assist team members on financial reporting matters including interpreting and providing guidance on new accounting standards.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside managers and Partners to deliver industry and technical expertise on a variety of technical assurance and accounting matters
• Promote the importance of quality control in all Assurance and Accounting engagements and play a role in driving our quality initiatives
• Research and respond to queries under ASPE, IFRS, and CAS
• Maintain knowledge of changes in the profession through research and by attending relevant industry events and training/information session
• Support the development and maintenance of our accounting and assurance tools and protocol
• Assist with the development of accounting and assurance related training in MNP’s extensive in-house education programs; Opportunity to facilitate learning and development programs for Assurance and Accounting engagement team member
• Prepare and review high-quality deliverables, including written reports, presentations, correspondence, and other technical material and
• Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve our work processes

Skills And Experience

• Completion of, or working towards, a CPA designation
• Written and verbal French and English language skills, due to frequent collaboration with English-speaking teams/clients across Canada and some client deliverables/regulatory reporting obligation are in English
• 1 to 3 years of recent accounting and assurance related experience at a public accounting firm
• Strong technical writing and project management skills, and an understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
• Demonstrate analytical research skills and critical thinking
