Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional in Calgary to join our client services team. The ideal candidate will have CFEs or near completion, strong accounting and tax skills, and familiarity with CSRS 4200, ASPE and CSRE 2400.

You will prepare personal, corporate, and trust tax returns, assist in planning and completing review and compilation engagements, and provide attentive client service.

Qualifications

• Must be close to completing CFE or finished.
• Strong knowledge of accounting and tax.
• Familiarity with CSRS 4200 (Compilation), ASPE and CSRE 2400 (Review).
• Proficient with MS Office; quick to adopt new tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, execution and completion of Review and Compilation engagements, independently or as part of a team.
• Prepare personal, corporate, and trust tax returns.
• Collaborate with management on file planning and completion within time constraints.
• Provide personal, attentive service to clients and maintain productive working relationships.

Job description

The ideal candidate

• Successful completion of Common Final Evaluation (CFE), or near completion
• Strong technical experience in accounting and tax
• Understanding of CSRS 4200 (Compilation engagements), Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and CSRE 2400 (Review engagements)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Experience with Caseware/Caseview, Keystone, TaxPrep, and Quickbooks (QBO) is an asset
• Able to communicate well with clients both verbally and in writing
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite and ability to grasp new technology tools
• Ability to execute on deliverables in a deadline-driven environment
• Results-oriented with a sense of urgency. Quick learner, self-starter and exudes a “can do” attitude
• Passion to learn and grow, and be an integral part of a high-performing team

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, execution and completion of a wide range of Review and Compilation engagements, both independently and as part of a team
• Prepare personal, corporate, and trust tax returns
• Collaborate with management team on file planning and completion within time constraints
• Provide personal, attentive service to clients to encourage productive working relationships
• Preparation and review of financial statements and related note disclosure
