Job summary

Arbutus Medical Inc. in Vancouver, Canada, is seeking a Senior Accountant to own the month-end close, ensure audit-ready financials, and strengthen controls as the company scales.

You will review AP, payroll, expenses, and ensure accuracy across ledgers while partnering with operations and leadership to maintain financial discipline. The role requires 5+ years of accounting experience in manufacturing or product-based settings, and hands-on proficiency with Xero, Expensify, and Dext.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in a product-based or manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in owning the month-end close and full-cycle accounting.
• Direct experience leading or owning the client side of an audit.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience with tools such as Xero, Expensify, Dext, and modern accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the full month-end close process with accuracy and timeliness.
• Lead balance sheet reconciliations and ensure consistency across ledgers.
• Manage accounts payable, payroll, and expenses review for compliance and accuracy.
• Prepare audit-ready documentation and serve as primary point of contact for auditors.
• Identify process improvements and optimize SOPs and accounting systems.
