Our proprietary cloud platform utilizes real-time analytics and automation to access mortgage products efficiently from a centralized platform, offering a marketplace for all borrower needs, whether conventional or private.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant, Lending & Funds, to join our www.8twelve.fund. This is an on-site position based at our Markham office.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage accurate financial records for private lending activities, including loan origination, repayments, interest, and fees, as well as fund operations like investor payments, redemptions, and new investments.
  2. Administer and reconcile trust fund accounts across all business lines, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  3. Process accounts payable and receivable related to lending, manage sundry advances, and handle private investor payouts.
  4. Handle daily fund investor payments, including reconciling schedules and distributions (e.g., NRT, EQB).
  5. Perform comprehensive reconciliations of bank statements, credit cards, borrower/investor ledgers, and internal systems (e.g., QuickBooks, automator, lawyer distributions).
  6. Prepare and process journal entries with proper coding for lending and fund activities.
  7. Provide financial data and interest calculations for external NAV reporting and assist in reviewing NAV schedules.
  8. Ensure compliance with GAAP / IFRS, tax regulations, and industry best practices.
  9. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  10. Assist the Controller with financial analyses and special projects.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Hands-on experience in private lending/mortgage finance accounting and investment fund accounting.
  • Expertise in managing and accounting for trust funds.
  • Proficiency with IFRS and GAAP standards.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills; experience with Xero and QuickBooks.
  • Strong understanding of intercompany relationships.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • High integrity and discretion with confidential information.
  • University degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA progress is a plus.
  • The successful candidate will work from our Markham location, five days a week.
