MNP is seeking a Senior Accountant for our Indigenous External Financial Advisory Services team. This diverse unit helps over 270 Indigenous peoples, groups and organizations across Canada, delivering capacity-building and financial advisory services.

You will assess accounting systems, support external financing, deliver training, and help with audit preparation, COA setup, and policy development. Willingness to travel and CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Business Administration or Accounting.
• CPA/CAFM or equivalent designation preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities is a strong asset.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and organisational finance.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.

Responsabilités

• Assess client accounting systems and deliver capacity-building initiatives.
• Review client accounting practices and plan growth, capacity development, and financial literacy.
• Support external financing, system implementations, and chart of accounts setup.
• Deliver hands‑on training including audit preparation.
• Prepare finance policies and process maps; recommend amendments.
• Provide training on payroll, GST/PST, and T4 filing.
• Facilitate project updates to Management and Leadership.
• Travel as necessary.

As a trusted advisor, you’ll provide expertise to empower Indigenous communities, organizations, businesses and individuals in navigating a dynamic social, political and economic environment.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Indigenous community and enterprise clients to assess their accounting systems and assist in delivering tailored capacity-building initiatives
• Assist with reviewing client accounting practices to create a strategic plan for growth, capacity development, and financial literacy
• Support activities related to external financing, system implementations, and chart of accounts setup
• Deliver hands‑on training in accounting functions including assisting the client with audit preparation
• Prepare finance policies and process maps, prepare recommended amendments as required
• Provide training on general matters such as payroll, GST/PST, and T4 filing
• Facilitate project updates to Management and Leadership
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills And Experience

• A degree or diploma in Business Administration or Accounting
• CPA, CAFM, or equivalent designation preferred
