Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing our financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and driving cost efficiencies. This role is ideal for an experienced, detail-oriented professional with strong leadership skills who thrives in a hands-on environment and is eager to make a significant impact on a family-oriented, community-focused business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of four direct reports and other indirect reports, providing guidance and support in day-to-day operations.
- Full Cycle Accounting: Oversee the entire accounting operations ensuring accuracy and finding efficiencies. The current system still includes paper processes; the Sr. Accountant will need to learn existing processes and then transition to Excel and other accounting systems.
- Inventory Management: Tighten inventory processes and improve cost accounting to ensure accurate tracking and control.
- Financial Leadership: Manage bank and credit card reconciliations, audit responsibilities, manual checks, and year-end financial processes.
- Expense Management: Identify and implement cost-saving measures across areas such as phones, alarms, and IT systems.
- Cash Conversion Cycle: Optimize the cash conversion cycle to improve financial efficiency.
- Project Accounting: Apply costing and project accounting expertise to support building and construction operations.
- Business Transformation: Evaluate current systems and processes, recommending and implementing IT upgrades to enhance efficiency.
- Trust & Relationships: Build strong relationships with ownership and team members, ensuring alignment with the company's culture and goals.
- Advisory Role: Interpret financial data to guide decision-making and advise on accounting matters, ensuring compliance with industry standards and family business dynamics.
