Senior Accountant (Fixed Term 12 Months)

Who We Are Looking For

Boughton Law is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant (Fixed Term 12 Months). The successful candidate will be a dynamic and motivated individual with strong working knowledge of full cycle accounting procedures. This individual is responsible for a wide variety of key responsibilities within the accounting function of the firm. This role reports to the Controller.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

1. Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including monthly reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, and miscellaneous journal entry postings.
2. Prepare monthly financial reports, conduct appropriate analysis, and communicate results of findings.
3. Review client invoices at month-end.
4. Provide support and specialized training to the Accounting team when needed.
5. Assist in streamlining the accounting processes.
6. Prepare ad hoc financial and profitability reports as required.
7. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
8. Assist in preparation of the annual budget and mid-year budget review.
9. Assist with year-end reconciliations and working papers.
10. Monitor operating budget throughout the year, investigate and report variances.
11. Assist with the year-end external review process.
12. Provide support to other members of the firm with accounting related queries.
13. Back-up support for members of the accounting team as needed (e.g. Trust, File Opening, A/P, Collections).
14. Update our accounting software for new hires and departures.
15. Perform other duties and special projects as required.

Qualifications

1. Professional Accounting Designation (CA/CA/CMA) or pursuing a designation
2. Minimum 5+ Years' experience in the accounting field
3. Minimum 2+ years' experience at a comparable level of responsibility
4. Strong working knowledge of full cycle accounting procedures and principles, up to and including financial statement preparation and year-end close
5. Comfortable dealing with all levels of an organization
6. Well organized and able to manage time effectively
7. Excellent English oral and written skills.
8. Familiar with billing/invoicing processes in a legal environment
9. Strong computer skills, particularly MS Excel
10. Able to work independently with minimal instructions and as part of a team

The expected start date for this role is the end of May/beginning of June, 2025.

Salary Range

$40,000 - $50,000 per year

The salary range for the role represents the Firm's reasonable estimate of the range of compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications.
