Job description

My client, a well-established small business located in Etobicoke, ON, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its growing team. We seek self-motivated individuals who take pride in quickly grasping a project and hitting the ground running.

What will you do:

  • Analyze tax issues and advise on tax minimization strategies.
  • Maintenance of all relevant files and supporting documents, including monthly balance sheet, income statement, journal entries, and continuity schedules.
  • Complete tax engagements by computing taxes owed, preparing corporate tax returns and other compliance slips and tax returns (T4s/T5s).
  • Correspond with clients and various government agencies to address full compliance.
  • Ensure accurate, timely preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Collaborate with clients and the tax team to develop and implement tax planning and tax minimization strategy engagements.
  • Prepare fundamental tax reorganizations, including engagement planning, data collection, development of step plans, and building direct client relationships.
  • Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses.

What you bring to this role:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Must thaveCPA (Ontario)Designation,
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience in public accounting practice.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act and related legislation.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS/ASPE.
  • Knowledge of data management and financial data analysis.
  • Experience working with QuickBooks, Caseware, TaxCycle, and Simply Accounting and advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience in the preparation of domestic tax compliance as well as research and documentation of tax issues
