Job summary

What would you be doing?

A Senior Accountant is responsible for performance of general ledger accounting, preparation of financial accounts, monthly opening and closing of accounts and preparation of balance sheets. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative in understanding process flows and controls. This role reports directly to the managers and partners of BT KDN and is responsible for:

  • Preparation of compilation, review and audit engagements
  • Preparation of corporate, personal and trust income tax returns
  • Preparation of tax slips (T3, T4, T5, etc.)
  • Performing and leading audits
  • Identifying and resolving engagement issues
  • Supporting year-end planning
  • Developing and maintaining positive and productive working relationships
  • Direct field work and informing manager(s) of the engagement status
  • Developing strong technical audit, accounting and tax skills
  • Collaborating to ensure we provide an integrated financial and business solution that meets our clients' need

Who is our ideal candidate?

  • University degree in commerce or accounting
  • Attained a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) or CPA in waiting
  • 3+ years experience at public accounting firm with a minimum of two years of audit and assurance experience
  • Working knowledge of Caseware, Taxprep/iFirm, Keystone, and Quickbooks preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in managing and developing others
  • Ability to prioritize and manage deliverables, adhering to time and budget constraints
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines, which can be conflicting with one another
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work and learn
  • An inclination for attention to detail and accuracy
  • A desire to be an integral part of a fun team environment
