Job summary

Doane Grant Thornton in Victoria is seeking a Senior Accountant, Assurance [Audit] to deliver high‑quality financial statements and audits for diverse clients while mentoring junior staff and building strong client relationships.

You should have completed post‑secondary education, CPA accreditation (or near completion), and at least two years of public practice experience in audit, reviews, and compilations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver exceptional service to clients under varying reporting frameworks.
• Plan, prepare and execute financial statements with appropriate note disclosures.
• Plan and execute financial statement audits, reviews and compilations, including budget and resource requirements.
• Coordinate fieldwork assignments with budgets and resources.
• Contribute to Doane Grant Thornton’s reputation as trusted business advisors.
• Supervise, coach and provide timely feedback to junior engagement team members.

As a Senior Accountant, Assurance [Audit] your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating with colleagues to deliver exceptional service to clients under varying reporting frameworks across different industries and sectors
• Planning, preparation and execution of financial statements with appropriate note disclosures
• Planning, preparing and executing financial statement audits, reviews and compilations, including budget and resource requirements
• Planning and executing fieldwork assignments including budget and resource needs
• Contributing to the building of our reputation as the preferred business advisors in key sectors of our growing practice
• Supervising, coaching and providing timely feedback to junior engagement team members on diverse engagements
• Other duties as required

• Completed post-secondary degree/diploma
• CPA (CPA, CA; CPA, CMA or CPA, CGA) accreditation (or near completion of)
• Minimum 2 years of public practice experience in audit, reviews & compilations
• Strong technical expertise in audit, accounting and tax
• Experienced in tax return preparation
• Strong focus on exceptional client service and relationships
• Strong planning and time management skills
• Proven problem solver with solid analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions
• Ability to successfully work independently and as part of a team
• Experience mentoring and coaching junior team members considered an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with MS Office suite and Accounting software applications (CaseWare, TaxPrep, Sage, QuickBooks), with ability to quickly grasp new technology tools

Our salary ranges are reviewed annually, and where you land within the range depends on a mix of factors - your background, your skills, and how your contributions align with internal equity. To help start the conversation, the current salary range for this role is $70,000-$80,000 in Victoria. If the role is available in other locations, the range may differ to reflect local market factors.
