Job summary

MNP is seeking a Senior Accountant in Canada for the Assurance & Accounting team. You will handle compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements while guiding junior staff and supporting business development initiatives.

The role emphasizes delivering tailored financial information to clients and maintaining strong client relationships within a dynamic regulatory environment. On-site, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting experience.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP, SEC and IFRS.
• Experience working with accounting and tax software.
• Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles.

Responsibilities

• Conduct compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements.
• Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files and conduct inventory counts.
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, asset acquisitions/disposals and payroll walks-through with clients.
• Summarize clients’ financial status by preparing balance sheets, P&L and related reports.
• Assess audit evidence for expenses, revenues, assets, payables, receivables and prepaid expenses; correct discrepancies.
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare posting entries.
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports and client summaries outlining engagement findings.
• Develop working relationships with clients while coaching junior team members.
• Participate in business development and identify new opportunities.
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.

• Summarize clients’ current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other relevant reports
• Assess and assure appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable and prepaid expensesReview, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accounts
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights
• Develop effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members
• Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills and Experience

• 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting experience
• Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Experience working with accounting and tax software
• Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles

The annual salary range for this role is $57,000 - $86,000. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill set, relevant experience, and education.
