Job summary

MNP is seeking a Senior Accountant (Designated Professional) to join our Assurance & Accounting team in Canada. You will provide tailored financial information, support clients and act as a trusted advisor in a dynamic reporting landscape.

Responsibilities include engagements across compilation to tax, client onboarding, and mentoring junior staff. The role emphasizes collaboration, accuracy and proactive business development, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• CPA designation is required.
• 2–4 years of public accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC and IFRS.
• Experience with accounting and tax software.
• Understanding of business, accounting and practice development principles.

Responsibilities

• Conduction of compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files and conduct inventory counts.
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, asset acquisition and disposition and payroll walkthroughs with clients.
• Summarize clients’ financial status with balance sheets, P&L statements and reports.
• Assess sufficiency of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, assets and payables.
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and posting entries.
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports and client summaries.
• Develop relationships with clients and mentor junior team members.
• Participate in business development and identify new opportunities.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition and disposition and payroll walk-through with clients
• Summarize clients’ current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other relevant reports
• Assess and assure appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable and prepaid expenses
• Review, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accounts
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights
• Develop effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members
• Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills And Experience

• CPA designation
• 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting experience
• Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Experience working with accounting and tax software
• Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles

The annual salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000.

Individual compensation is commensurate with skill set, relevant experience and education.
