Job Summary

This role supports our community of hundreds of individual and corporate clients.

As a member of our team, you will help us to provide an effortless customer experience and constantly look for ways to create value and opportunities for our clients.

Your day will consist of managing multiple projects, including the completion of Compilation and Review financial statements, Corporate and Personal Income Tax returns, as well as providing our clients the value of professional advice.

This is a fast-paced job so you need to be well-organized and able to prioritize tasks quickly. If you're overwhelmed at the thought of spinning multiple plates, this position isn't for you.

A love of people and problem-solving will serve you well in this job.

Knowledge about small business tax planning and advisory services is a competitive advantage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Year End Financial Statement Preparation
  • Prepare 70 to 100 Compilation and Review engagements annually that meet the applicable financial reporting standards (CSRS 4200 and ASPE/ASNPO)
  • Focus on metrics that reinforce small business profitability and stability, like Quick/Current ratio, Leverage and Debt-To-Equity, Gross Profit Margin and Gross Profit Percentage, Management compensation, and Net Profit/Net Income
  • Meet with clients to review and discuss your finished work, and provide the value of professional advice and guidance on business improvement and profitable business growth
Corporate and Personal Income Taxes
  • Prepare 70 to 100 T2 Corporate Income Tax Returns with a focus on tax planning opportunities for owner/managers of small business corporations
  • Develop client-specific income tax and owner compensation plans to maximize tax efficiency and minimize tax leakage
  • Complete 100 to 200 T1 Personal Income Tax and Benefit Returns annually with a high degree of accuracy and that reflect the best in current personal income tax planning
Research and Miscellaneous Projects
  • When encountering a problem: do the necessary research, confirm with colleagues the correctness of your findings, and communicate clearly the solutions to our clients
  • Assist in nurturing relationships: respond to emails and phone calls quickly, and constantly be thinking of ways to personalize and improve our clients' experience

Experience and Designation
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA)
  • 4+ years in a Senior Accountant position
