Job Description

Our client is a dynamic, publicly traded lending company specializing in innovative financial solutions. They are seeking a Senior Accountant for a 2-month contract to start. The role is based in downtown Toronto, initially in-office 5 days a week, transitioning to a hybrid model of 3 days in-office.

This Senior Accountant will primarily focus on the month-end close cycle to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. They will also support periodic financial planning and analysis as part of a dynamic finance team.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Month-end Close: Perform month-end procedures including GL entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, lender covenant reports, and internal reporting packages.
  • Banking: Support accurate recording and reconciliation of daily banking activities, including payments and bank transfers.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Assist with annual budgeting and ad-hoc requests, especially related to potential M&A opportunities.
  • Audit and Compliance: Maintain organized and accurate documentation for internal controls and external audits.
  • Public Company: Support the preparation of quarterly financial disclosures, including financial statements and MD&A.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of senior experience in accounting close processes and financial reporting support.
  • CPA designation and/or a degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting is preferred.
  • Hands-on knowledge of general ledger systems (Sage Intacct preferred).
  • Strong understanding of IFRS accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Experience working with multiple entities is required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
