This role administers and coordinates the accounting operation to ensure costs are monitored and prepares necessary reports for management to make informed financial decisions. This role readies and maintains financial and business transactions, applies accounting principles, and has a solid understanding of both accounting theory and practice.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Ensure that all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related schedules/analysis are produced in a timely fashion, in compliance with SOX, GAAP, and corporate policies.
- Participate in full cycle month-end activities, including general accounting records and GL maintenance, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Prepare financial reports and perform analytical work such as intercompany balance reconciliation, monthly accruals, journal entry logs, and spreadsheet SOX control logs.
- Reconcile balances and prepare the Hard Close Binder accurately and on time.
- Prepare financial statements and analysis, including Management Estimates, EBITDA Bridge, and ART.
- Assist with the preparation of AFE, develop payback financial calculations, and review AFEs for compliance and accuracy. Supervise the AFE approval process.
- Generate periodic or ad hoc reports as requested.
- Assess the need for new or revised controls and assist in implementing internal controls across the organization.
- Document local procedures and internal controls for the monthly close process.
- Share best practices with team members and serve as a backup during absences or vacations.
- Continuously improve procedures and processes related to the monthly accounting close.
- Prepare and submit monthly STATs Canada reports and manufacturing surveys.
- Perform additional analysis and reporting as needed or assigned by the manager.
Education & Experience :
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- CPA or equivalent accounting designation.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented.
- Strong analytical skills, including financial analysis, trend analysis, and business case analysis.
- Proactive, positive, energetic, innovative, and willing to take initiative.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong understanding of costing, variance analysis, absorption, and multi-currency operations.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment with cross-functional management teams.
