This role administers and coordinates the accounting operations to ensure costs are monitored and prepares necessary reports for management to make informed financial decisions. It involves preparing and maintaining financial transactions, applying accounting principles, and demonstrating a solid understanding of both accounting theory and practice.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related schedules/analysis are produced in a timely manner, complying with SOX, GAAP, and corporate policies.
- Participate in full cycle month-end activities, including general accounting records and GL maintenance, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Handle financial reports and analytical tasks such as intercompany reconciliation, monthly accruals, journal entries, and SOX control logs.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and close binders accurately and on time.
- Prepare financial statements and analyses, including management estimates, EBITDA bridge, and ART reports.
- Assist in the preparation of AFE, develop payback financial calculations, and review AFEs for compliance and accuracy, overseeing their approval process.
- Generate various reports periodically or upon request.
- Assess the need for new or revised controls and assist in implementing internal controls organization-wide.
- Maintain documentation of procedures and controls for monthly close processes.
- Share best practices with team members and serve as a backup during absences.
- Continuously improve procedures related to the monthly accounting close.
- Prepare and submit monthly STATs Canada reports and manufacturing surveys.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required by management.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- CPA designation or equivalent.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, with strong analytical skills.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks.
- Deep understanding of costing, variance analysis, absorption, and multi-currency transactions.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
