Job Description
This role administers and coordinates the accounting operations to ensure costs are monitored and prepares necessary reports for management to make informed financial decisions. It involves preparing and maintaining financial transactions, applying accounting principles, and possessing a solid understanding of both accounting theory and practice.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure timely production of all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related schedules/analysis in compliance with SOX, GAAP, and corporate policies.
- Participate in full cycle month-end activities, including general ledger maintenance, in accordance with company policies.
- Handle financial reports and analytical tasks such as intercompany reconciliations, monthly accruals, journal entries, and SOX control logs.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and close binders accurately and on time.
- Assist in financial statement preparation and analysis, including management estimates, EBITDA bridges, and ART reports.
- Support AFE preparation, develop payback calculations, and review AFEs for compliance and accuracy, overseeing the approval process.
- Generate various reports periodically or upon request.
- Assess the need for new or modified controls and assist in implementing internal controls organization-wide.
- Maintain documentation of procedures and controls during the monthly close process.
- Share best practices with team members and serve as a backup during absences.
- Continuously improve procedures related to the monthly close process.
- Prepare and submit monthly STATs Canada reports and manufacturing surveys.
- Perform ad hoc analyses and reporting as requested; undertake additional duties as assigned by the manager.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, with strong analytical skills including financial, trend, and business case analysis.
- Proactive, energetic, innovative, and willing to take initiative.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple assignments.
- Strong understanding of costing, variance analysis, absorption, and multi-currency operations.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional management.
