Job summary

Altis Technology in Vancouver is seeking a Senior Accountant to take ownership of inventory and COGS accounting, oversee store accounting, and support consolidations and audits. You will coordinate Canadian indirect tax filings and US tax considerations while mentoring two staff accountants.

The role emphasizes process improvement, automation opportunities, and accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced retail/e-commerce environment. Strong Excel and ERP experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive accounting experience with month-end close ownership.
• Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency accounting and IFRS.
• CPA designation or near completion.
• Strong Excel, large data sets, complex reconciliations.
• Retail/e-commerce/public company reporting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly inventory and COGS accounting, including weighted average costing, reconciliations and adjustments.
• Oversee retail store accounting, including payment reconciliations, store expenses and monthly P&L.
• Support monthly and quarterly consolidations, intercompany transactions, financial statements and audits.
• Manage Canadian indirect tax filings (GST, PST, QST) and coordinate US sales tax compliance.
• Prepare accruals, analyze vendor spend, and review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Mentor two Staff Accountants and guide their development.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve inventory controls, and enhance reporting accuracy.

Your Responsibilities

• You'll lead monthly inventory and cost of goods sold accounting, including weighted average costing, reconciliations, and adjustments.

Skills and Qualifications

• 57 years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month-end close cycles, with a CPA designation or nearing completion.


• Strong inventory accounting expertise, including weighted average costing, perpetual inventory reconciliations, and cost of goods sold.


• Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency accounting, consolidations, IFRS, and Canadian indirect tax compliance.


• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets and complex reconciliations.


• Excellent communication, analytical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to meet deadlines in a rapidly evolving environment.


• Experience with Power BI, Xero, QuickBooks Online, or similar reporting and accounting platforms is an asset.


• Previous experience in retail, e-commerce, public company reporting, payment processing, or third-party logistics is considered an asset.
