Description

We are hiring for this position out of our Vancouver office. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.

Role overview :

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the accounting entries related to the bank’s loan and deposit portfolios. This role supports timely financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.

About the day-to-day :

  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, trial balances, income statements, and balance sheets.
  • Record loan and deposit related transactions, including new accounts, interest accruals, loan payments and discharges.
  • Prepare journal entries and schedules for off balance sheet accounting transactions.
  • Analyze, reconcile, and prepare continuity schedules on select accounts.
  • Perform timely and accurate month end close procedures.
  • Assist with monthly reporting to senior management.
  • Assist with preparing externally audited financial statements and notes to financial statements.
  • Assist with gathering samples and reconciliations for the external audit.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and GL reconciliations.
  • Assist with the implementation of new software and processes.
  • Assist with documentation of processes and creating Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Improve processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and controls.

About the qualifications :

  • CPA designation
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive professional accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of Excel.
  • Experience in a Financial Institution or Fintech considered an asset.
  • Experience with NetSuite considered an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail.

    Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $80,000 and $87,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
