Job summary

Orion Digital is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a lean, high-accountability team working with the Controller and Finance Manager. You will own fund accounting, IFRS reporting, and the full-cycle close for a dual-listed environment, with exposure to financial instruments, treasury activities, and consolidations.

This is a fast-paced role designed for early ownership and clear progression to Finance Manager.

Qualifications

• CPA designation required or final stages in progress.
• 3–5 years progressive accounting experience.
• Big 4 or national-firm background required.
• IFRS foundation with financial instruments, fund accounting, or investment structures is a plus.
• External audit experience - preparation and coordination.

Responsibilities

• Handle journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly/quarterly closes.
• Support IFRS reporting and internal/external packages.
• Perform variance analysis and item investigations.
• Support fund accounting and consolidated reporting for multiple entities.
• Assist with audit readiness and coordination of external audits.

Senior Accountant

Location: Remote (Canada)

Compensation: $85,000 - $95,000 CAD base + performance bonus + equity

About the role

This is a first or second industry move for someone who came up through Big 4 and wants real accounting ownership - not another rotation.

You'll work directly with the Controller and Finance Manager across fund accounting, IFRS reporting, full-cycle close, and external audit for Orion Digital's asset management entity. The scope is broad by design: financial instruments, fund reconciliations, consolidations, treasury-related accounting, and operational finance - all within a dual-listed public company running a lean, high-accountability team.

Close & reporting

• Journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting working papers for monthly and quarterly close


• IFRS reporting support and preparation of internal and external reporting packages


• Variance analysis, reconciling item investigation, and discrepancy resolution


• Consolidation support across multiple entities and investment structures


• Accounting across accruals, investments, loans, leases, and treasury-related activities

Fund accounting & audit

• Fund accounting reconciliations and reporting processes for IntelligentInvesting Securities Inc.


• Audit support schedules and coordination with external auditors across fund and corporate audits


• Audit-ready working papers and supporting documentation maintained throughout the year

Process & operations

• Cross-functional coordination to ensure accounting outputs reflect business activity accurately


• Identification and execution of workflow and reconciliation improvements


• Contribution to automation and process improvement initiatives across Finance systems

What you bring

• CPA designated (or final stages)


• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience


• Big 4 or national-firm background - required


• IFRS foundation with financial instruments, fund accounting, or investment structures as a plus


• External audit experience - preparation and coordination, not just awareness


• Strong Excel and ERP skills; NetSuite experience is an asset


• Able to investigate and resolve accounting issues independently


• High ownership mentality - you don't wait to be told what needs fixing


• Genuine interest in process improvement and working in a lean, fast-moving environment

What success looks like at 12-18 months

• Reconciliations and reporting deliverables are accurate, timely, and audit-ready without escalation


• Fund audit and close processes run reliably with your ownership


• Accounting issues are caught and resolved before they become close problems


• You're trusted to take on increasingly complex work with minimal direction


• You're on a clear track toward the Finance Manager role
