Job description

Location : Toronto – Hybrid (3 days on-site)

Job Type : 6-month contract

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO). This role plays a key part in supporting financial planning, forecasting, and controllership across the organization. We will need this person to start July 2nd, 2025.

Responsibilities :

• Provide strategic financial advice and controllership support to FSCO senior management
• Develop and maintain internal financial controls, policies, and accountability frameworks
• Manage forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning processes
• Monitor appropriation control and develop strategies to address financial pressures
• Analyze financial data, business cases, and the impacts of emerging issues
• Lead or support financial systems / process improvements and special projects
• Deliver training sessions on financial procedures and business processes
• Liaise with internal departments and central agencies regarding reporting and financial compliance
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reports, business plans, and records

Requirements :

• Strong knowledge of public sector controllership, financial management, and risk practices
• Expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting, and analysis
• Experience interpreting and applying government financial policies and standards
• Proficiency with financial information systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects, solve complex problems, andmanage competing priorities
• Experience preparing detailed reports, business cases, and briefings for senior leadership
