Position Overview
This cross-border role supports both U.S. and Canadian financial operations and plays a vital part in maintaining the financial integrity of our business. Operating in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment, the position requires advanced accounting knowledge, analytical excellence, and strong collaboration skills. With opportunities for global partnership and growth, this role contributes directly to the company’s financial accuracy, compliance, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts including bank, AR/AP, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, inventory, deferred revenue/COGS, and intercompany transactions.

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or outstanding reconciling items with urgency and precision.

  • Support monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries and financial reporting deliverables.

  • Assist with tax filings and external audits, including VAT/sales tax compliance in the U.S. and Canada.

  • Contribute to the preparation of internal financial dashboards and external reporting packages.

  • Ensure internal controls and procedures are upheld to safeguard company assets.

  • Partner on business planning activities including budgeting, forecasting, and special initiatives.

  • Lead or support ad hoc reconciliations and cross-functional finance projects.

  • Collaborate closely with the Finance Accounting Manager based in Toronto (hybrid role; 3 days on-site).

Business Objectives

  • Deliver timely, accurate, and compliant financial results for both U.S. and Canadian entities.

  • Optimize and scale financial systems, processes, and controls.

  • Collaborate with global finance partners to drive consistency and knowledge sharing.

  • Support strategic projects that enable business growth and operational efficiency.

  • Take initiative on finance-related tasks and provide flexibility for evolving business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA designation (or actively pursuing), with public accounting experience strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.

  • Proficient in advanced Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).

  • Ability to work with and summarize large data sets into actionable insights.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and/or IFRS accounting principles.

  • Prior experience in SaaS or high-growth tech environments is a strong asset.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (FnO) is highly desirable.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and data analysis skills.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization.

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a hybrid setup.
