Reporting into the Finance Controller, you support the finance team on all finance matters regarding customer payments, expense reports, transaction documentation tracking, and more.
What you will be doing :
- Support all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Ensure proper coverage under allowances, reconcile accounts, update metrics, review transactions, and ensure compliance with reporting standards to maintain accurate financial statements.
- Conduct monthly revenue recognition reviews for all customers per ASPE.
- Review transactions for correct treatment, classification, and appropriateness.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with ASPE, including note disclosures, and assess stakeholder needs.
- Reconcile financial statements, analyze variances, predict impacts on financial results, and inform stakeholders.
- Prepare monthly budgets and quarterly forecasts, along with analyses for department owners.
- Provide variance analyses comparing forecasted numbers to actual results.
- Maintain and improve financial models as needed.
- Assist billing and accounting teams during high-volume periods and update sales metrics dashboards in BI tools.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing to government bodies (HST, EHT, WSIB, US sales taxes).
- Communicate with the department of revenue across multiple states to ensure US sales tax compliance.
- Support the development, improvement, and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and processes.
- Assist with the annual audit, identify areas of risk, and evaluate financial reporting requirements under ASPE.
- Participate in ad hoc and special projects such as software implementations, financial information migration, and process improvements.
What we're looking for :
- 3-5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, including month-end reporting.
- Preferably CPA or pursuing CPA.
- Postgraduate degree or diploma in Business Administration, Finance, or Commerce.
- Knowledge of current accounting rules and regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and Google Suite.
- Strong technical and analytical skills with high accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for professional correspondence with customers, vendors, and team members.
- Experience with Netsuite is an asset.
