Job summary

Randstad Canada client is seeking a Senior Accountant to support financial reporting and operational accounting for an 8-month term with potential extension or conversion. Hybrid in Toronto (2–3 days in office).

Role focuses on full-cycle accounting, rigorous internal controls, and analytical support to drive growth. CPA or CPA candidate highly valued, with experience in reconciliations and system optimization.

Qualifications

• CPA preferred; candidates nearing completion will be considered.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with complex reconciliations and full-cycle reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP) required.

Responsibilities

• Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes with accurate journal entries and working papers.
• Assist in preparation of financial statements and notes.
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.
• Perform reconciliations to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity within SAP.
• Drive SAP process improvements to automate workflows.
• Prepare tax compliance filings (HST/GST) using SAP tax modules.

Job description

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to support financial reporting and operational accounting functions for a term of 8 months with the possibility of extension or conversion. This role is hybrid in office 2-3 days a week in Toronto. You will be a key contributor to the full cycle of accounting, maintaining rigorous internal controls and providing the analytical support needed to drive growth. This is an ideal role for a CPA (or CPA candidate) who thrives in a high-volume environment and enjoys diving deep into complex reconciliations and system optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, preparing accurate journal entries and working papers in compliance with IFRS.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and notes.
• Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for the annual external audit, assisting as a key point of contact for auditor inquiries.
• Perform daily and monthly reconciliations to safeguard assets and ensure the continuous integrity of financial data within SAP.
• Drive SAP process improvements to automate manual workflows.
• Prepare tax compliance filings, including HST/GST returns using SAP's tax modules and supporting corporate tax installment calculations.

Qualifications & Experience:

• CPA designation is preferred; candidates nearing completion will be considered.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a proven track record of handling complex reconciliations and full-cycle reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills are essential (Power Query, Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP).
